Hevesy did not always have time to maintain the contacts by traveling. Correspondence and exchange of chemical samples with colleagues all over Europe required extensive use of the mails. This mailing tube is from Freiburg (am Breisgau), Germany, where he had much collaboration during his career. The chemical sample is hafnium oxychloride (HfOCl2), which Hevesy found to be useful in fractional crystallizations as well.
